Discover the unheard. Two men, one boat, the ocean, 40 countries and countless musicians. When Benjamin Schaschek and Hannes Koch started their project " Sailing Conductors ", they were at first ridiculed, then they were envied and finally even admired. “Captain Ben” and “Smutje Hannes”, as they kept naming themselves later on, are audio engineers and had met each other at the SAE, a private audio engineering college. A few months later, on March 22nd in 2011, Hannes Koch, who hadn’t steered a sailboat in his whole life, gives farewell hug to a couple of his friends just after seven clock in the morning at Berlin main station. Details

Since that day almost two and a half years have passed, in which quite a lot of things have happened: “Captain Ben” and “Smutje Hannes” and their boat "Marianne" have actually travelled two continents, made trips to the Aborigines and some remote corners of the Himalaya Mountains, a cruise past the pirates of Somalia and an Atlantic crossing. And of course they met countless enthusiastic musicians, whom they recorded for their project. "AAA" - Australia, Asia and Africa - is the "Sailing Conductors’" debut album and is released on the two yachtsmen’s own label. For about two years, Benjamin and Hannes have captured different melodies, rhythms and voices, using their mobile recording studio. Those recordings have served as starting points for other musicians’ contributions, maybe even in another country. And sometimes the two sailors picked up their instruments themselves.

World music  - in the truest sense of the word.
